The internet is crowded, right? I think you are on the right path. As you focus on writing and developing good content, first and foremost, the audience will swell.

I read something really smart by Paul Cantor not too long ago: “If you’re a passive member of the community [Medium], you get little out of it. You consume and move on. If you’re active, you get rewarded. It’s strangely like real life.”

Are you taking any writing courses at UW? Maybe a group of your classmates would like to utilize Medium as a space for peer review, feedback, and collaboration. Maybe you have a professor who would like to experiment with the platform by having everyone submit a writing assignment via Medium. Part of the learnings from that exercise would be “how writers get read in a digital age.”
