I think I hear what you are trying to say with point 3, but the vast majority of self-identified progressives/liberals feel about as much kinship to the rioting anarchists during the inauguration and at Berkeley as you and other conservatives do to the KKK.

I agree with your broad assertion that leftists shoulder blame for creating a cantankerous political culture which allowed a dude like Trump to metastasize and ultimately with the presidency — especially in regards to harboring an attitude of elitism and condescension to those who disagree. Point 3 point however feels overly reductive.
